I’ve always wondered what I was meant to do on this world. I always knew that it had something to do with helping people but I didn’t really know what to do so I joined the military, not to fight, but to help vulnerable people. I figured that if I could go to war-torn countries, I could help make a difference. Although I did get the opportunity to go to the Middle East with the UN, I wasn’t as interactive with the affected people that I wanted to be.
Then I though, Canadian Red Cross. What a rewarding experience the past eight years has been. I’ve been given the opportunity to help people affected by disasters right here in Canada from families losing their homes to house fires to entire communities losing their towns due to major flooding. The feeling of being able to help someone and bring them some comfort, even in a very small way, is so overwhelming and humbling. This is what I’ve been put on this world to do.
